Airdrie Festival Of Lights

Here We GLOW Again

Located in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park, the Airdrie Festival of Lights is a beautiful, outdoor walk-through lights experience, with about a million dollars worth of displays and other special features. We have miniature trains ($2/ride) which carry the whole family around our preset paths, as well as open bonfires where you can savour that cup of hot chocolate or apple cider ($2/cup).

Before you leave, be sure to stop into our Santa's Gift Shop, located right beside our large Poinsettia Arch. Here you'll find high quality, and whimsical gifts for yourself, your family, and your friends.

We've even got the kids covered with our unique Kids' Only Shopping experience, also located within Santa's Gift Shop. No adults allowed! Our elves will help your little ones in our unique shopping section that includes locally sourced handmade, home-based gifts. All items in this section are $10 and under keeping it affordable for your kid's budgets.

Make the Airdrie Festival of Lights part of your annual Family Holiday Tradition!

Our Vision

The Airdrie Festival of Lights has always been committed to providing an affordable, family friendly Christmas Festival of Lights experience for the people of Airdrie and Southern Alberta, which is suitable for all ages. At the same time, provide a venue in which other non-profit organizations can raise funds for their activities.

Did You Know

The AFOLS is an independent, non-profit society that is run by a Volunteer Board of Directors. They work throughout the year, meeting monthly to assess, plan, and implement everything needed to put on this event for 30 years now.

We work with several other local organizations and groups in the off-season, providing equipment and volunteers to help their events run successfully too. In 2024 we were very excited to support the following local events; the Airdrie Home & Lifestyle Show, Airdrie Children’s Festival, Airdrie Mighty Machines, Airdrie PRIDE Festival, airdrieFEST, CP Holiday Train in support of the Airdrie Food Bank, and Airdrie’s very own Santa Claus Parade!

We also partner with external groups, including work release programs as well as allowing individuals an opportunity to work off community service hours.

We believe the spirit of volunteerism lies within our youth population, and work very hard to mentor those youth, helping them appreciate that sense of giving back within their community. When our youth contribute to their community, they connect with their community.

We offer a fundraising program for local youth groups and other not for profit organizations in exchange for volunteer hours.  Last year we had Crossfield Baptist Youth, Junior Forest Wardens Airdrie Wolves, NLOC #219 Holger Storm / RCSC #359 Chicoutimi Navy & Sea Cadets, plus one independent fundraiser, contributing more than 650 hours, and earning more than $3,700 for their individual programming.

AFOLS also provides support and funds for many other groups. In 2024 these included: Airdrie Professional Firefighters Local 4778, with the Tim Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Airdrie EMS in support of the Emergency Services Foundation, Airdrie Health Foundation, STARS Air Ambulance, Airdrie RCMP in support of Alberta Special Olympics, Nose Creek Valley Museum, Airdrie Food Bank, Airdrie 1st Christmas Hamper Program, Boys & Girls Club Airdrie Brick by Brick Campaign, 100 Women Who Care Airdrie, and 100 Men Who Give a Damn Airdrie.

Our History

The Airdrie Festival of Lights was created in 1996, by Stan Softley, a then city alderman and community volunteer. He formed a small group of dedicated individuals, with a common goal of providing the best Outdoor Christmas Light Festival for families to enjoy. 30 years later we are still GLOWing strong!

Thank you to Propak for so generously sponsoring our Volunteer Program!

Step Up and Glow! The Airdrie Festival of Lights is a vibrant and spectacular event that attracts more than 75,000 visitors to Airdrie every holiday season. Without the participation of volunteers, this event would not be possible. We appreciate their commitment of time and energy!
