Get Your Glow On.
Located in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park, the Airdrie Festival of Lights is a beautiful, outdoor walk-through lights experience, with about a million dollars worth of displays and other special features. We have miniature trains ($2/ride) which carry the whole family around our preset paths, as well as open bonfires where you can savour that cup of hot chocolate or apple cider ($2/cup). Do some Christmas shopping in Santa’s Gift Shop, which also has a Kid's Only shopping section that is full of locally sourced handmade, home-based gifts. All items in this section are $10 and under keeping it affordable for your kid's budgets. What we paid is what the kids pay!
Make us your annual Family Holiday Tradition!
The Airdrie Festival of Lights has always been committed to providing an affordable, family friendly Christmas Festival of Lights experience for the people of Airdrie and Southern Alberta, which is suitable for all ages. At the same time, provide a venue in which other non-profit organizations can raise funds for their activities.
The AFOLS is an independent, non-profit society that is run by a Volunteer Board of Directors. They work throughout the year, meeting monthly to assess, plan, and implement everything needed to put on this event for 24 years now.
We partner with several other local organizations and groups in the off-season, providing equipment and volunteers to help their events run successfully too. We are very excited to be assisting the Airdrie Children’s Festival Society, Airdrie Pride Society, Airdrie Rodeo Ranch Association, Unmask Mental Health, Olds ~ Olds Fashioned Christmas, Time Traveller’s Car Club, and many more!
We also partner with external groups, including work release programs as well as allowing individuals an opportunity to work off community service hours.
We believe the spirit of volunteerism lies within our youth population, and work very hard to mentor those youth, helping them appreciate that sense of giving back within their community. When our youth contribute to their community, they Connect with their community.
We offer a fundraising program for local youth groups and other not for profit organizations in exchange for volunteer hours. Last year we had seven different fundraising groups that helped them earn more than $5,200 towards their own programming.
The Airdrie Festival of Lights was created in 1996, by Stan Softley, a then city alderman and community volunteer. He formed a small group of dedicated individuals, John Whitrick, Rey Rawlings, Peter Pape and Alan Tennant, with a common goal of providing the best Outdoor Christmas Light Display for families to enjoy.
Thank you to Propak for so generously sponsoring our Volunteer Program!
Step Up and Glow! The Airdrie Festival of Lights is a vibrant and spectacular event that attracts thousands of visitors to Airdrie every holiday season. Without the participation of volunteers, this event would not be possible. We appreciate their commitment of time and energy!
As a group, we directors enjoy working together and take a lot of pride in what we accomplish.
Airdrie Festival of Lights Society is a volunteer based, non-profit organization. We cannot GLOW without your support. Thank you.
